EOY Donations Online

Hi all - I'm thinking way ahead here, but our organization is switching to an online donation process for end of year asks. Does anyone have any advice to link this to Altru for tracking? We would use MailChimp to reach out to our Constituents/Members, but are looking to have several donation options with an ‘Other Amount’ as well. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

  • Thanks Lori! This is exactly what we are looking for. Is this on your website? If so, was it difficult to set up and is it able to be tracked in Altru using a query?

  • You can add giving levels by going to Webforms>Manage Donation Forms. Choose Options on the page you want to add levels to. Add Giving Levels there.

Thank you so much!! This is incredibly helpful. :)

  • Hi Jess, Another thing to take into consideration when you plan is that you can't tie online donations to an appeal/mailing so it is good if they have a unique designation. Also, when you set up the donation webform, the words you want to display in go into a text box, so you are limited in length and formating to a line or two which is unlike a program webform where there is a whole editing screen (unless someone knows something that I don't know). Also, don't forget to set up your email acknowledgment. - Tamara

  • Hi @Jess Munroe,

I agree with what the other posters here have said. I really like @Tamara Christensen's note about creating a unique designation. Each designation can have it's own Web Forms online donation page. How you do this may vary based on how y'all have your Fundraising Hierarchy set up. What we do is create a Fund designation for our End of Year effort for that year (so like EOY-FY22). You could use the same designation every year, but I think having a separate designation for each year makes year-over-year type reporting a little easier.

Because each designation can have its own donation page URL, you could even get crazy and make multiple End of Year designations to measure different campaign messaging or placements. Like maybe designations for A/B testing. Or create one designation to measure your social media efforts and then create a separate one to measure the success of your mailed End of Year appeal.

There isn't much room to put a lot of text on the Web Forms page, but, by having a unique designation, you can match the language that is there to the language of your End of Year campaign. So that's kind of nice too.

Last thing, the URL that Altru will give you is kind of a long ugly URL. So we will create a webpage that we host that just redirects to the Altru Web Form. This way we don't have to tell donors to go to some weird looking site with a long URL. Y'all don't need to put any content on that page (unless you want to). It just does an automatic redirect to the donation page.

    Chris ?
