Blackbaud’s Education Management Solutions: What’s New For March 7, 2023
Here are the latest changes, updates, and new features for the Education management products for March 7, 2023.
Academics
Assessment results identify student answer(s) and correct answer(s) for multiple choice questions
In the student view of Assessment results, multiple choice questions now indicate which answers the student selected, and which answers are correct.
Printed assessment questions include line breaks
Line breaks now display in questions when printing assessments created with the new Assessment builder.
Coming soon: New academic profiles
We plan to roll out a new version of Academic Profiles to all schools in waves starting in late March.
Just like the old Academic Profile, the new 360 Profile displays when you select a student or alumnus via the People finder in Academics. The new profile contains the same features and capabilities as the older Academic Profile (plus a few new tools that we’ll show off in the Community post linked below), but arranged under new tab headings in a more accessible format. Depending on your role at the school, some or all of the following profile areas will be available to you.

Billing management (Early Adopter Program)
Review failed payments under Needs attention
Billing clerks now see an alert for failed payments under Needs attention on the Billing management Overview page. The alert is formatted as Review X failed payments, with the X in the example aligning with the total number of failed payments. Billing clerks can select the notification link to review a list of failed payments and select Mark as reviewed to remove failed payments from the list.
Student columns added to Payment application export
The following student columns have been added to the Payment application export:

Student current grade level
Enrollment deposits added to Payment application export
Billing clerks can now export Enrollment Deposits using the Payment application export by selecting the new Enrollment Deposits toggle. To complement this, the Payment application export's previous default export type can now be accessed by selecting the Payments toggle.
Processing details added to Payments and enrollment deposits made through integrated contracts
Payments and enrollment deposits made through Enrollment management contracts now have their records populated with Processing details from Blackbaud Merchant Services.
Core
School forms: Form field elements
Previously, the element for Form fields could only be added to Blank school forms. Now, users can add them to:

Profile update
school forms. Use this to create questions or gather custom data specific to the form. When you add a form field, you enter a label (Display as) for the recipient to see. Then for Form control, select what type of data the recipient will enter. Data can include responses for:

October 3, 2023 – Blackbaud ID requires Multi-factor Authentication
Starting October 2023, Blackbaud will begin to require faculty and staff users of Blackbaud Education Management® (BBEM) to enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) on their Blackbaud ID (BBID) username and password. These users have roles with Application or Employee/Volunteer types.
The requirement will be enforced in “waves.” The first wave of schools will require MFA as of October 3, 2023. If, by this summer, your organization has not yet established an SSO connection, then we will send you an email with the exact date on which your users will be required to use MFA.
Information about this MFA requirement now appears on the Blackbaud ID tile on the Home page in Core for platform managers.

Enrollment management
Print contacts in bulk
When an admissions manager prints contracts for academic years from 2020 2021 onward, they’re handled using a option for printing archived contracts in bulk.
When an admissions manager prints contracts for academic years from 2019 – 2020 forward, they’re handled via Crystal Reports.
Tuition management
ACH files rebranded for Blackbaud Tuition Management
ACH debit and credit files now include Blackbaud Tuition Management branding. With this change, the descriptor on a payer's bank transactions now displays BB TUITION MGMT instead of SMART LLC. Additionally, the bank identified in ACH files has been updated to Fifth Third Bank.
Nacha On Hold Payments included in reports
Payments in On Hold status due to Nacha validation are now included under Total Paid to Tuition Management (pending transfer) in the AR Balance report.
API and Integrations
School API and OneRoster API

Subscribe to “What’s New”
To receive email notifications when the What’s new update appears, make sure to subscribe to the K12 community’s blog by logging into the community site and selecting the Subscribe button.
To manage your community subscriptions:

Log into the community and locate your name and profile picture in the upper right corner.

Select the drop-down arrow and select My Account.

From the My Account page, select the Subscriptions tab and scroll down to the Blogs section.

Locate Blackbaud K-12 Education solutions Blog. If you want to be notified as soon as the What’s new content goes live on the community, select the Instant option. You can also opt for Daily and Weekly notifications.

Scroll to the end of the page and select Save changes.
