Inquiry Forms through Altru

Hi all, 


My organization's field trip/group tour organizer has always used a third-party platform to collect information from teachers when they submit a field trip request. She wants to switch over to using Altru but is worried that she will have to add too many steps that she doesn't with her current platform. Essentially, she wants an inquiry form to work with/through Altru so that she doesn't have to manually enter information herself. 


My understanding of webforms (besides donation and memberships) is that there isn't a way to create a registration form without displaying a date/time and requiring a purchase. Does anyone have any workarounds for this? When I've talked to an Altru rep about this they suggested creating a scheduled program, telling people to ignore the date on the webform, and pricing it at zero so that they will only pay after they've been booked. I know a lot of people just use things like Google or Outlook forms as well, but it would be great if people could submit a request with their info and not have to manually enter it into Altru.

  • Hi Maggie, unfortunately, I think the workaround described by the Altru rep is the only way I can think of to collect information via Altru web forms. and it is far from an ideal way to get the information.   You would have to create a scheduled program that requires registration.   If you use Altru group sales for your field trip reservations, there wouldn't be a way to automatically tie the information collected from the scheduled program to the field trip reservation.   We have a very basic inquiry form that is part of our web site that allows schools to submit a request for more information.  We have a dedicated reservations coordinator that works closely with the schools to set up their field trip in Altru.

    I'm seconding Cindy's reply... there's no good way to do this unfortunately. I think Altru's recommendation would be more trouble than it is worth for your field trip organizer.


    We use a Survey Monkey built with logic for our field trip requests and our Special Events team has an email contact form. We only input clients into Altru once they book, so this cuts down on some manual entry for the people that end up not booking for one reason or another.
