Year End Academic Performance

Wondering whether anyone has a good way to generate academic performance at the end of the year. Currently Blackbaud can only generate academic performance for a single term. So single term Semester 1 courses are not included in the year end calculation. Any ideas? I brought this up last year and there has been no movement. Here is a link to vote if anyone else is having the same issue.

  • While we do academic performance by semester, I believe in the set up you can calculate a YTD GPA and then use that number to base your academic performance on.
  • We do similar to Michelle.  Not only do we run class rank and honor roll by the term GPA, but we also run it at the end of the year by the cumulative GPA which factors in all previous terms.

Another item to consider, although it is not necessarily an academic performance calculation, is that you can take multiple marking columns and combine them into a calculation marking column.  For our lower/middle schools, for example, we have three trimesters that get averaged into an overall Final Grade marking column at the end of the year.  At our upper school, we also use this to calculate the final semester grade where 80% is from the regular semester marking column and 20% is weighted from the final exam marking column.
  • Yes - we do have a YTD calculation which appears to work until you really dig in and look at the GPA that is being calculated during Generate Academic Performance. When calculating the YTD GPA, we get an accurate GPA. When we then run Generate Academic Performance, the system runs a new YTD GPA without some courses. Courses that end in the first term are excluded. Many of our students were off slightly which bumped some of them down or out of earning honors.

Just be careful if you use this function and want to include courses that end in different terms.
