Exporting the Balances of Pledges that are Connected to Gift Records

Hello!


My organization is currently setting up receipts--we plan to export data from RE and merge it in Microsoft Word (the "Mail" module doesn't quite have all the features we need).


We understand that a pledge record has a "pledge balance" value associated with it, and that balance goes down as gifts are applied to the pledge. The gift records themselves don't have this balance on them--it's always blank or zero, because, of course, the balance only lives on the pledge record itself.


Is there a way, when querying on gifts, to output the balances of the pledges to which they have been applied? I hope my question makes sense.

It's possible to pull current pledge balance in Mail > Receipts as I did that at previous org.  Used receipt type Create custom Data file and included the balance in the receipt/TY letter. 


Pulling that in a query should be possible. Have you tried a gift query with gift ID one of XXX and then outputting pledge balance field?  Probably can't be that easy.  Heading to meeting will think on it some more.
