After many years of preparation and bringing Education Management along the SKY platform journey, I am super excited to announce that SKY reporting Dashboard Builder is rolling out to all K12 customers!  The Insight designer is available from the dashboard builder via a link to start a free trial so you can determine whether purchasing it as an add-on is right for you.


In this forum you'll find lots of good content on how to get started and make the most of your dashboards.  Like any forum, this is a great place for you to share questions or tips with other customers.  I'll be listening and weighing in with new ways to get value from insights and dashboards.

When will schools have access to the dashboards?

Hi Terri,

It's likely all schools will have Dashboard builder by year-end! I am rolling it out in large batches prioritizing those customers that have 10 or more users on Blackbaud ID so I can be sure it is discoverable for you. 


Also we migrate access for any users that view dashboards today as long as they are authenticating via Blackbaud ID.  If you users are not on BBID, you will have set them up with access after your school gets the Dashboard builder release.


For now we are focusing on schools that also have RE NXT in order to get smooth access to the Insight Designer trial link.

We just received the Analysis option to use Dashboards and use the trial period of Insight Designer. I am a little confused, does the trial period for Insight Designer start when the Analysis option appeared or when we access Insight Designer? I ask because is looks like the training in in mid-January and I want the trial period to overlap the training.

Hi Coco,

The trial only starts if someone (an environment administrator) initiate the Insight designer trial.  You can click the Learn more at the top of Analysis > Dashboard builder

So you'll have plenty of notice before you initiate that 30 day period.


The Dashboard builder itself is included with your regular subscription, so you can now begin building dashboards using the pre-built insights (36 so far!) at no additional cost.  When you place an insight on the page, be sure to check out Edit Properties - there are all sorts of things you can do to change up what that insight describes.

Are there canned Insights / dashboard that we can use for free or is the only way to access dashboards via paid builder add-on?

Hi Brian,

Yes! there are 36 canned insights so far. If you click on Dashboard builder you can view them and put them on a new dashboard page.

When you place a prebuilt insight on a page, be sure to check out "Edit Properties" where you can do quite a bit of customization of what shows in the insight including completely changing the attributes or revising the filters.

Schools that own RE NXT will have it by December 18th.  Schools that do not have RE NXT are coming in waves after that.

I see the dashboards on my site and am a platform manager. My users do not see it (although we granted many Sky Reporting access in ON a long while ago). I do not see an option for being an environmental admin and have most access I can grant. We did start looking at sky reporting before we converted to using our gmail as our blackbaud id. Am I missing a needed access or is ON not supporting sky reporting for end users yet? I had encouraged staff to attend today's dashboard meeting and know the 1st thing they'll want to know is how to get to these.
