Student Switches Sections at Semester and Old Submissions Disappear

Has anyone else run into this problem?  It's the end of our grading period, and I'm trying to grade my final assignment of the semester.  Several of my students switched sections at the semester (either across sections of mine or into other teachers' classes), and now their submissions have disappeared from the assignment page for this final assignment.  The gradebook still shows an "S" icon, so the system seems to know they gave me something, but I can't access it to grade it.  Is there any way to access these submissions?

  • Update: I also can't enter grades for these students' assignments, since they had a rubric attached.  I actually graded one of them, but the grade only shows up on the assignment page in his new section (even though he was in the other section when it was assigned), with the grade locked in.  On the gradebook page for his original section, the box for this assignment is grayed out, so I can't give him credit even though the system is clearly storing his grade somewhere, because it shows up on the assignment page.  There does not appear to be a way to override this and manually input a number into the gradebook.

The other student, who transferred into another teacher's section of the course, no longer appears on the assignment page, so I can't access her paper at all, and her box in the gradebook is also grayed out and untouchable.  Help!
  • Hey Chris - I would check the school year settings and make sure your semester "Days to Default" is XX days after semester.  We set this to 10 so that teachers can finish their grades.  This setting is in Core>Settings>School Information>Years & Terms
