IT Manager not adding SPF record

We are a hospital foundation that used to have the ability to add an action item to our Outlook calendars, thru RE database view. We can no longer use this feature. In working with RE Support they have suggested we setup an SPF record. Our IT Manager at the hospital is not willing to do that, saying it bypasses the email security system.

Anyone have this issue? Wondering if any other healthcare organizations that have strict security has dealt with this. If so, how did it get resolved?

We seem to be at an impasse and I'm trying to figure out if there are any other possible solutions.

Thanks for any suggestions - Sandra

This is a tough one. I can definitely understand your IT manager turning this request down. Anything that bypasses any type of security check is a no-go. Even though, in this case, you wouldn't be using it to create emails, as much as creating items on the calendar. I don't know if you have NXT, but it maybe worth looking at the Outlook integration there, as that may be easier to use and work. There are several plugins that can connect to Outlook.

Healthcare security is under major scrutiny, and have to be aware of any threats or holes in their systems. Many organizations are dealing with this same issue, and I wouldn't be surprised if a update on the IT side broke this.
  • I agree with Daniel about Healthcare security.

I remember when that option became available for RE but was disappointed to realize it wouldn't work with our old version of Outlook. Then when NXT added the ability to link emails, actions, etc. for me, this would have been yet another reason for our fundraisers to use NXT. Our IT had another idea however and we are still unable to utilize this. Disappointing but I would rather be safe and secure.
