What can I do with a Dorm block?

I see that I can create blocks for dorms (Extracurricular > Residential Life > Setup, but other than creating a block with a specific name, I don't see how to use it.


All I found in my searches were references to the ability to include blocks in a Master Rollover - nothing that says what I can use them for or how to configure them.


Can anyone point me to docs that talk about what to do with it?

Sadly the answer to your question is "nothing".


I had setup a Dorm block, marked "Record Attendance" in each of my dorm buildings and then went to schedule my meetings into said dorm block and...nothing.


It's like the programmers stubbed it all out to work like Academics, Activities, & Advisories but never actually finished coding it.


Here's the dialog I had with our implementation consultant back in Sept 2020. Sadly like a lot of ideas in the idea bank, the linked idea below is from 2015 and has no traction.

There is no such thing as Dorm Attendance as there is no way to schedule Dorms ☹ here is an Idea you can vote for though ? https://blackbaudk12.ideas.aha.io/ideas/K12OR-I-315. My guess is since it is in buildings now, maybe that is an inkling It may be coming down the line?

I seem to be somewhat lost in trying to setup attendance for Dorm groups.

The Buildings have “Record Attendance” checked and I created a Block for “House Meetings” but I don’t see where I would assign a meeting time to that block or to associate a Dorm Group with that “House Meeting” block.

My guess is I’m missing something stupid.

Any advice?
