New Gradebook Release?

I noticed that this week, the week of July 12, there were no Education Management updates. Does that mean we are getting to the point for the “major” year update, where the new gradebook would be pushed out? Basically I am curious on the timing of when that new gradebook will be going live. I am under the impression that it will be released prior to the start of the 2021-22 school year? I know sometimes the admin will reply to thoughts in the Idea Bank and I don't always see it.

  • Excellent - thanks for the quick reply! This is great to hear and plenty of time to get ready for the new year. Appreciate it.

Hi Chris! Thanks for checking in. The gradebook and assignment details updates are slated to go live on July 20th, next week. They will be accompanied by a YouTube video overviewing the changes available from My Day, a detailed description in the What's New letter, and later this month, a back to school guide overviewing the changes. We've worked hard to release this as far in advance of the school year as we could.

Ben - thanks for getting the information out today! Two quick question as I watched the video:

    1. What is the “D” next to Cristen Sizemore's name at 1:35 in the video? I know ET is enrollment type and LP is learning plan, but what is D? Dropped maybe?
    2. Does this release allow for teachers to open an attachment for a specific assignment for a specific student directly from the gradebook? Or is there still the process of needing to go to the assignment information page, then clicking on the student, then going to the attachment?
  • Q: What is the “D” next to Cristen Sizemore's name at 1:35 in the video? I know ET is enrollment type and LP is learning plan, but what is D? Dropped maybe?

A: That was an oversight on my end -- indeed, the D stood for Dropped and is from an older design. While dropped students won't be shown in the upcoming release, it's something on our radar to potentially add in the future.

Q: Does this release allow for teachers to open an attachment for a specific assignment for a specific student directly from the gradebook? Or is there still the process of needing to go to the assignment information page, then clicking on the student, then going to the attachment?

A: This specific release doesn't allow for that - yet. But my goal is to get that functionality added in within the first 1-2 months of the school year.

  • Did this already come out? Where can I find the YouTube video?

Did this already come out? Where can I find the YouTube video?

Yep - it came out this morning. Here is the Youtube video. It also is linked on the Faculty My Day page when they login.

  • Thank you!
  • Did this go live?

  • Jennifer Schmidt:

    Did this go live?

    Yep! Went live yesterday.

  • Is anyone else unable to scroll down on the updated gradebook? I can’t see students at the end of the list unless I zoom way out. I’ve tried in Chrome on two different Windows 10 computers (desktop and Surface Pro 7). Anybody else having this problem?

  • Hi Chris – Have you added any assignments yet? We have on our radar an issue where users are unable to scroll when no assignments have been added. If this isn't the case, please be sure to reach out to support to assist.

  • Oh, that’s probably the issue for me. Thanks!
  • Hi Ben,

The choice for accessing work turned when looking at an assignment in is now not visible under normal circumstances and you need to make the front size in your browser much smaller to reveal the choice in the new format. Can the software layout be changed? This looks like a very confusing byproduct of the new assignment screen design.

  • Hi Michael – thanks for the note. We've identified the cause of the bug and have a fix in the works. For the time being, resizing the browser or adjusting browser zoom will help to reveal all page elements. We look forward to getting the fix out shortly!
