Trying to create a "Pledge" gift - response says it's an "unsupported type"

I've been trying to record a pledge using the gift/v1/gifts endpiont, and whenever I change the ‘type’ to ‘Pledge’, I get error_code 25012, telling me it's unsupported. Am I doing something incorrectly or is this just not supported at the moment?

I'm able to record other gift types with no issue.

Hi Ryan,

Pledge is not a supported gift type in Gift API at this time. Please refer to this documentation for the list of supported gift types.

I did refer to that documentation, and Pledge is a type listed on it. Is there any idea of when this might be available as a supported type?

Val, the documentation you shared in the link also says that Pledges are supported and yet you say they are not which jives with our experience. Is there a timeline of when they might actually be supported? Also, is the same true for Recurring Gifts since they have similar functionality to pledges?

What is the current timeline on the availability of other gift types in Gift API?
Not being able to add pledges and matching gifts seriously cripples the functionality of the entire module.

We also released some tribute APIs this year. We do not yet have a timeline on matching gifts so that will remain a gap.

Are Gift v1 and v2 compatible? Can you create a batch and add cash donations to it in v1 and then use v2 to add remaining pledges and stock gifts? Will you be able to add gifts with “pledge payment” gift type (different than pledge installments) and link them to the existing pledges to have a full batch/gift functionality outside the database view?

We've been trying to move batch processing from the database view to the web view for over a year now. Custom fields and tributes are a fantastic addition, but we are still missing some key pieces that prevent us from completing the transition.

I agree it would be nice to be able to perform this functionality via the API and automate some processes. There are some post I think from two to three years ago asking when this will be available.

This post touched on pledges so I wanted to come back to throw and update. We can now accept non full pledge payments and payment to multiple pledges via the API.

@Mark Costantino @Szymon Zaleski we have plenty of API and NXT updates planned for 2023 including the items mentioned (More pledge, stock). We will be targeting a lot of gift management functions in the coming year.
