Handle with Care alert for Student Records

In our school, the counseling office notifies teachers when students are “Handle with Care,” and a few other internal alerts they want teachers to be aware of. Is there a way to create an alert to pop up on the student's record when teachers view their class roster? We do not want to include this as an LP or a Medical alert. Has anyone found another way to place an alert on a student record?
