Opportunities Trusts and Foundations

Hi,

I was wondering if other organisations use the Opportunities tab to track trust applications and where you are in the process.

If so, have you customised the opportunity status' and what has worked for you? We are new to RENXT and currently have opportunities set to Identification, Strategy etc which works for major donors but doesn't apply so much to trusts.

Presumably the point of this tab is to track how many applications are currently, for example, pending. Or see quickly whether or not, for example, a trust has been thanked for their gift. So would something like this work?

1 - Identification/research

2 - Application sent/pending

3 - Application successful

4 - Application unsuccessful

5 - Stewardship

Thanks

Bella, you can totally use Opportunities for Trust and grant applications. Honestly, I think the Status could be the same framework as for a major donor, and here's why: the Opportunity represents an active ask or solicitation. By the time you create an Opportunity, you should have already completed the Identification and Strategy stages – which are recorded in a separate spot, under the Prospect Management tile. The Status of an Opportunity itself would be:

    • solicitation (same as application submission)
    • pending
    • realized
    • rejected

and these would apply for both Trusts and major donors.

Meanwhile, under the Prospect Management tile, that is where you have the full prospect cycle:

    • identification
    • qualification (research, strategy)
    • cultivation
    • solicitation
    • stewardship

And then of course you will need to use Actions to prompt activity since Trusts and Foundations have their own unique timetables.
