Importing Date Field Challenges

I am from Canada, trying to do an import. We just got our conversion done and I am trying to now import this fiscal years data. I am getting error messages consistently about the date field being invalid. I understand from my conversation with Blackbaud support it needs to be mm/dd/yyyy format. In my excel/csv file I don't have a cell format option with “/” we only have “-” and even a substitute formula would not make the change. Does anyone have a template with the required fields for an import where the cells are already formatted to work within the import function? Support is unable to help me any further.

We do a few imports each month. I believe we make the date field a text field which will allow you to put in the date as required by etapestry.

@Anthony Penney, that is exactly what we do. A text field allows the import to be read not as a number but as general text.
