Adding a business as a constituent

When adding a business as a constituent in RE, it seems their contact information; owners name, address etc., isn't merging into letters. Can anyone give some input on how to get this information to merge?

  • Are you adding the business as an Organization record? Does the owner have their own individual constituent record, or are they just listed on the business record? Is the individual marked as the primary contact? In mail merges, etc. be sure to check the org tab for primary contact settings.

  • Hi Lauren,

Thanks for the quick response. I new to RE and I'm still learning how to navigate through records.

I am adding the business as an organization and the owner does not have their own record. I don't see where to put the owners contact info., maybe that's what I'm missing..

  • I did some digging and think I found the issue. If I don't have a primary contact, nothing but the name of the organization will merge.

    Thank you for responding.

Be sure the check boxes for contact and any others are checked off, along with the relationship, reciprocal, and address are filled in. On the General 2 tab, you will need to set the salutations you desire. Voila!

I would also check the settings for the letters in regards to addressee and salutation. By default, the organizational addressee may not be set to have the contact printed.
