Assignment file format to allow free-hand illustration

I only have experience building out fillable .pdf files that have text boxes, check boxes or radio buttons, for online assignment submissions. We've run into a block of the curriculum which needs the student to be able to draw illustrations as answers to assignment questions. I'd like to continue to use the .pdf format if possible, as the school does not have any software/platform restrictions (the students use all sorts of devices and programs). It's a universal file format.

Does anyone have suggestions how to deliver an assignment that requires free-hand illustration in a digital only way? (I don't want print-n-scan.)

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi @Steven Ragatz ! I don't have a tool offhand in mind, but we've been exploring some updated annotation abilities and would love to get your feedback to see if it meets what you're looking for. Feel free to email me if you'd like to chat further: ben.leddy@blackbaud.com.

@Steven Ragatz there is nothing built into Blackbaud.

Showbie lets student annotate and upload files. There are fee (with limited features) and paid versions.

  • She's looking into Kami - which seems promising @ $100/yr. for the full version.
