Whipplehill sites

Hello,

I know there has been a thread about this already. However, the thread, for me, did not clarify some things and I did not want to hijack it. Our current website DNS record points to (substitute our school name for the variable):

subdomain: www.schoolNAME.com

CNAME: schooNAME.onmessage.whipplehillsites.com

The two links that I have been pointed to do not indicate whether or not there is a benefit to updating the site link from the old to the new. Meaning, is there a benefit to either us or Blackbaud? See below for the links.

https://kb.blackbaud.com/knowledgebase/articles/Article/92002?_ga=2.8817461.1282166500.1642086889-711947419.1639677756

https://webfiles.blackbaud.com/files/support/helpfiles/education/k12/full-help/content/sws-website-tip.html

In addition, It does not mention anything about if you had the old link and you are updating to the new link.

So I guess I have four questions:

  1. Is this something you all recommend doing or will eventually recommend doing?
  2. Are there any benefits to us or Blackbaud for doing so?
  3. Is the process different for someone setting up a new website versus just updating the DNS records?
  4. I control our DNS settings, however, I do not control our website settings and do not have access to them. So, with this said, are there internal changes in Blackbaud that need to be changed? SSL/TLS records, website pointers, etc.?
