Adding New Pledges and Applying Future Gifts to Pledge Balance

I have been reviewing the Gift API we currently have a process where we download pledges, splits, and Monthly Payroll Gifts from our main database. This requires going to Import in database view and manually importing those three CSV's each month. With the Pledges a “GFImpID” field is included along with the value for future gifts to reference when importing to be applied towards that constituents pledge. When I try to integrate this process with SKY API there is no way for me to specify the Gift Link that I aware of… I have looked at the property “linked_gifts”, but I don't believe that will allow future gifts to be identified with specific pledges? Does anyone know if the API is capable of performing such updates?
