Is it possible to import external data for use in a Dashboard/Insight?

Hi folks,

We are a new customer of BB and are implementing BBEM, BBTM, and EMS for our school. We are looking for a way to combine data (historical, current, and ongoing) into a reporting environment that works well for our end users.

Analysis/Dashboards and Insight Designer looks promising but I'm wondering if there is any way to get our historical data loaded into a structure for use by this tool. Has anyone done or attempted this? Is it even possible/advisable?

As far as I know, you would need to use the Data Import tool in Core to bulk-import your historic data. You will likely need to do this in batches or chunks and use multiple import formats to make sure all if your data is in. Once you have records created for past candidates, students, etc, you should be able to use Insight Designer. I do not think there is a way to load data into ID without creating K12 records.

Are you familiar with Power BI? There is a user group starting up this month; that is a tool that can pull from multiple data sources.
