Appeal Performance Vs Appeal Giving in Report Builder

Why are some of my appeals reporting different numbers? Some have the same though?

For example, for our Giving Tuesday appeal, in the "Appeal giving" insight it is missing 2 gifts compared to “Appeal performance”… which are not coded differently at all. How are the two Insights different?

  • I suggest you look at how your recognition credit is defined. It may be that credit is applied to the donor only on one insight, and is picking up soft-credit on the other insight.

  • The most common cause I find is because of the date range used in each panel was different. There can be minor differences in what is counted when Post date is used vs Gift date vs Receipt date, and calendar year vs fiscal year.
    Gift amount received vs committed will usually be significantly more different amounts and most Admins don't change the settings behind these. If 2 gifts are missing from one report panel and not another, I'd check the 2 gift records, maybe their GL Post dates are outside your date range, it could be a number of things though.

  • I just encountered the same issue when I was updating our reports. Jeremy is correct; making sure the criteria are consistent will solve the problem, particularly paying attention to committed vs received.
