Callback URL Postman Error

Hi there,

We are working on this - Breaking Changes Planned For OAuth 2.0 and we having issues using the callback URL.

In our API automation script, we generate the Oauth2 token using the postman call back URL (https://app.getpostman.com/oauth2/callback).

When we clicked the “Authorize” I got this error - “Could not make access token requests. The feature has been deprecated, please download the latest Postman app.”

Looks like the postman call back URL(https://app.getpostman.com/oauth2/callback) is not working. We have also tried the postman Call back URL(https://oauth.pstmn.io/v1/callback) but no luck.

May I know what is the new callback URL please.

Hey April,

I could be wrong, but it appears as though you may be using the Chrome Extension version of Postman. This version is no longer supported by Postman, Inc. However, a “native” (standalone) version can be downloaded at postman.com.

The standalone version of Postman does not require your application's Redirect URI to be a Postman-specific URL unless you choose “Authorize using browser” (in which case, https://oauth.pstmn.io/v1/callback is a required Redirect URI). Otherwise, you can supply any of your application's Redirect URIs. Even if your application doesn't have a URI of its own for authorization, you can use a “dummy” URI like "https://localhost:5432/skyapi" as long as you also add that Redirect URI to your SKY Application. Postman will handle the redirect from us and exchange the authorization code.

I just copy the below link to my browser with the correct ClientID

After I clicked “Authorize” I get this error -

And I also try this - https://oauth2.sky.blackbaud.com/authorization?client_id=(add the TestClientID)&response_type=code&redirect_uri=https://oauth.pstmn.io/v1/callback&state=fdf80155 using this - https://oauth.pstmn.io/v1/callback but it says invalid request

I will try standalone postman. Can you check my postman if my configuration is correct please?

Do I need to put the Client ID and Client Secret? How about the Access token, Header Prefix, scope, state and client authentication?

Hi April,

Your other Postman settings look fine. You should be able to provide your Client ID and Secret and click “Get New Access Token”. The other minor tabs you screenshot there (Headers, Body, Settings, etc…) are properties of the overall request (the top/main Postman tab)--they won't have any bearing on “Get New Access Token” operation.

Just to make sure my previous message was clear: you will need to add your Callback URL as a Redirect URI on your application. If you don't add your “Callback URL” (e.g. https://localhost:5432/skyapi) to your application, you'll get this same error.
