Bank Rec module - getting started

Greetings - can anyone offer suggestions for the best way to implement this? How well does it work for you?

I'm not aware of any bank rec module in Blackbaud. You do your bank recs through either the Cash Receipts module under banks in the database view or through the Treasury module in NXT. I have no issues with the bank recs every month and I close to 10 bank recs a month. Not sure what else you are looking for in an answer. You just need to make sure you check the box to include any transactions you do in other modules to “create bank adjustments when posting to a bank's cash account” otherwise your bank rec can't be done.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by the bank rec module, but we've been having major issues with the bank feed functionality - we have had 2+ years on of using the bank feed feature where transactions are supposed to be downloaded from the bank and then matched to transactions in FE NXT, such as the checks we've issued, but this hasn't worked for me 2 days in a row since late January 2022. Frustrating.

I know BB uses Yodlee for Bank recon. We are currently looking at the terms and conditions. I wonder if you are also having issues with identifying support? Is it BB or Yodlee?

Right, that's part of the problem, because Blackbaud says it's a Yodlee issue, but they don't let me talk to Yodlee directly - they get questions from Yodlee and pass them along to me, and then I answer and they pass the answer back to Yodlee. Slows the whole process down and keeps Blackbaud from taking responsibility for fixing the issue. I even tried to look up Yodlee online and contact support via their website, but they wouldn't really talk to me since I am not their customer, Blackbaud is their customer.

Hi Daniel, Interesting. Based on the Terms and Conditions, it feels like there is no ownership if the process fails or there is a security issue, and it is not clear about data retention (if any). If we cannot connect with BB and Yodlee to discuss risk, we most likely will not use.

We do not use the bank feeds and after reading this thread I' glad we haven't. I've never had trouble doing bank recs and we do about 7 a month.

I can, thankfully, still use the bank reconciliation feature in FE7 even when the bank feed feature isn't working, but it does usually take some time to get both sides in sync again once the feed starts working again. By using FE7 vs the bank feed, some transactions may be marked as cleared but not matched to a bank feed item, and you have to ignore the transaction to get things back in sync.
