Changing a constituent on a gift after it has been posted and fed to FE

Hello Community,

RE NXT has a wonderful ability to change the constituent on a gift, as long as the records are of the same type. That sounds wonderful, but I have a question about using this functionality with FE. How does this functionality work once the gifts have been posted and fed into FE? In my case, our FE and RE databases aren't linked directly, so the data has to be fed from one to the other. However, I don't know if this feature will work after the gift is posted and fed to FE. I'm afraid that the gifts will not reconcile (not on the accounting, but on the reporting). I was wondering if anyone else has come across this situation and how they handled it.

  • Hi @Dariel Dixon !

This will only correct RE, our systems are linked however when this change or merge is made it does not come across from RE to FE.

FE will need to be corrected by hand.

I was very much hoping that you would not say that @Angela Tuttle. But I think you are right.

We've had a discussion about a couple of gifts that were imported to the wrong records. We had two options: To correct the gift via NXT and manually update them in FE (I don't know if FE NXT had a similar functionality. If not, it would have been deleting them and recreating them I'm assuming.) The second option was to delete them and recreate them correctly in RE, and refeed to FE.

Either way, there has to be a better solution that satisfies everyone.
