Differentiating Between Advisory Types - Academic Advising and College Counseling

Does anyone have a good suggestion for differentiating between Advsior types (we have both Academic and College Counseling) on a student's Academic banner record? Currently it shows both Advsors without differentiation of type:
Advisor(s): xxx xxx, xxx xxx

@Jennifer Welch - we changed our Academic Advisors to an Activity groups and left Counseling/Guidance as Advisory groups. This way on the report card & Transcripts it prints only the College Couseling/Guidance Advisor.

@Jennifer Welch Hi Jennifer, if you go to Academics > Scheduling > Requests and Schedules, click Advisory rather than Academics

Click the Advisories ta

Edit the Advisory you do not want to display on the Masthead

Uncheck the Display in Report Headers and Display on Directory and Academics

You should check these off for the main advisory only so that is the only one to display.

@Cheryle DAmelio thank you. I do want both Advisors to show just wanted to have an additional role or title to show what kind of Advisor they are!

@Kathy Hannon this also leads to what really is the difference between Advisory Groups and Activity Groups other than Advisory Groups have the check boxes for “Display on Report Headers” and "Display on Directory and Academic Profile"?

@Jennifer Welch - we did this move to Academic Advisors 3 years ago - we like differentiating them on the Progress tab. Our academic advisors wear many hats - academic coaches, assist with organization skill etc. different responsibilities. So not lumping them into the Advisory category was important to us. These groups are the same as other group types - so we haven't seen any difference. Maybe the only difference is — Advisories all students must have a College Counseling/Guidance Advisor - so the Advisee worklist is handy. The Acedemic Advisors, students are assigned by an academic team of faculty, not all students have an Academic Advisor. Hope this makes sense

@Kathy Hannon it does make sense, thank you. It sounds like your Academic Advisors are a little different from ours. Every student does have an Academic Advisor. College Counselors are assigned in the junior year. You have given me much to think about!

One thing to think about is if you have notifications that go to advisors (conduct for instance), activity group leaders won't get those notifications. Which may be fine, but you just want to think about some of those communications. We added people as advisors just to get those communications.
