Teachers on campus

Does anyone know of a way to maintain a record of teacher attendance in Blackbaud? As in, keeping track of the days teachers are at school?

  • @Amanda Polson I dont think this is a feature available.

  • @Amanda Polson Would like to see a feature that captures which teachers are on campus and those who aren't. For us, it would be great to allow teachers to sign in/out during a given day. Presently, we use a google form. In case of emergency, we know who left for any extended time during the day.

  • All, back in the EE days, this feature was also not available, BUT we did the following, which could probably be done quite easily in BEM:

    • Create a [skeletal] student record for each faculty member
    • Enroll them in a class whose “teacher” is the one person who is in charge of attendance [e.g. for us, it'd be the “AP of Faculty”]
    • Have that teacher enter and manage these record

We found that at end-of-year, the AP could just run a single report to manage stuff like sick days accrued, etc.

[Come to think of it, I'm surprised this hasn't been requested of me lately ;-) ]

  • There are some solutions available in the Marketplace like Visitu or SchoolPass that can track faculty or staff attendance, but agreed that this is a feature that doesn't exist in the K12 suite currently.

I will say, there is no way for a user to have both the Student role and also a Teacher or Non-Teaching Staff role currently, so creating these skeletal student records for teachers is going to create a ton of weird duplicate data in the system. I wouldn't go that route but as long as you're aware of the duplicates I suppose it would be workable.

  • Good point re dupes, Jess.

To dodge any confusion 'cuz of that, we morphed the last name. “Ronan, John” [the teacher] would be a “student” named something like “fac_Ronan, John”.
