use inquiry form as address change

Has anyone thought to use an inquiry form as an address / contact info change form? We dont want to allow editing to contact cards to protect data integrity (formatting, etc..). And we dont want to be forced to assign a form to someone when they just need to go grab it and complete it as they feel. Thought that a stripped down inquiry for might solve the issue.

  • @Lorrin Saliba This is an interesting idea but I think this would create some issues with generating candidate records for current students. If you didn't want to assign an optional profile validation form, you could probably just set up a Google form that families could fill out if they needed to update their profiles. Obviously this creates the need to manually transfer data over to your database but it could be an option.

  • @Lorrin Saliba As @Troy Burki correctly noted, Inquiry Forms will create duplicate records. And, the challenge with Profile Update forms are all the things that you mention: formatting issues, etc.

We do use Profile Updates at the start of the year for families. To supplement, we have a dedicated email address (infochange@ …) that sends the info to me (for updating BB/Core) and other colleagues. Yes, using Profile Updates necessitates cleanup of the data, but minimally we know that we have current info provided by each family.
