How to get Semester (multi-term) vs Quarter grade to pop up on transcripts?

In a school year we have 4 quarters that are split among 2 semesters, a semester grade being awarded at the end of the 2nd and 4th quarter and these are what go on the transcripts.

20-21, 21-22 are historical imported as transfer grades. Tried to test out inputting grades on a student to see if 22-23 current grades could pop up, but I have a feeling there is a disconnect in how grading groups might be set up:

In Grading setup > School Year setup I added a term grade for Semester 1 but these didn’t appear in the transcript.

When I played around with the transcript builder and changed Semester 1 to Quarter 2, they did pop up but then the previous grades disappeared, which I think is just because they were imported as Semester grades (no quarter grades)

After looking around, seems like the way to do this is to create a separate grade plan group for Semesters in addition to quarters?

When filling out (T) Semester 1 it doesn’t appear on the transcript—as mentioned before, switching Transcript builder to pull from Quarter 1 does, but need to keep it to Semester grades since those are where the historical grades are stored, and moving forward we would use Semester Grades.

Main question would be what would be the best way to set up something like 4 quarters in a school year, 2 semester grades (awarded at end of 2nd and 4th quarter)? The set up below doesn't seem to be working at least to generate a new ‘array’ for Semester 1/Semester 2 as the blue row doesn't appear on the transcript so I think it must be a different set up required, but I'm a bit at a loss as what else to try and might be confusing myself more with how Grade Plans/Groups etc. work

To sum it up, we have grades for Quarters 1-4 (appear on report cards), Semester Grades awarded after 2 quarters that should go on the transcript. Tried adding Semester (T) grade under 2nd and 4th quarters in Grading setup but that does't work to appear on the transcript (appears the grade is still tied to the quarter itself) so tried adding semesters in addition to quarters, but they aren't appearing in the transcript.

Appreciate any help or advice on even how you set it up if you have multi-terms with grades being awarded at multiple points in the year, thank you!

  • @Nathan Ong Do you have it set up in the “offer course” when to award the credit? In the course set-up there is a check-box that you can check to specify when credit is awarded, and this has to be done when you offer the course. I believe it defaults to either a total of 0, or it awards .25 each quarter (I don't remember which, sorry) unless you specify otherwise in the offering, but if this doesn't match up with other settings, it might not show up on the transcript. It's a longshot, and that may not be your problem, but when we moved over to the new transcript we discovered a few courses we'd missed when offering them and that fixed our transcript issue. I figured it was worth mentioning, anyway.
