Course requests- alternates

Would anyone else find it extremely helpful to have a setting in course requests that could be activated to require students to make alternate choices for certain courses? We always direct the students to make alternate choices for specific course, but many of them don't follow through, or choose a semester 2 course as an alternate for a semester 1 course, which does not work.

I think this could be very helpful! I feel like I am randomly picking alternatives for students …. this could be a great way to make them think about alternatives they would actually consider!

Would love to have this feature. We have the same issues with students choosing alternates in the “other” semester. Also students who do not choose any alternates assuming that they will then get all of their first choices automatically. Sadly it does not work that way and they are surprised when we have to choose alternates for them.

Our school would ABSOLUTELY love this feature. I created an "Idea" so that hopefully Blackbaud pays attention to this big gap in the existing course request process.

We require students to put in alternatives but of course, not all of them do that. A setting to require a specific number of alternatives would be fantastic.

@Christine Condon - We tell students to add an an alternate course for just a few upper-level science courses, but it would be nice to have it required. Ideally, if the student selects a course that requires an alternate, an notice will appear below the course in the list of requested courses on the right side.

There should be an option to specify an action in the Exceptions to Communicate section on the configuration page.
