Student Clubs

If we define our Student Clubs as Community Groups will there be historic reporting capability on membership?

Comments

  • @Jennifer Welch NO. Unless you create a new section of the community group each year and name them by school year, you will NOT have a historic record. This is something our school is also trying to handle, and we have accepted that we will need to do bi-annual roster exports and save them somewhere outside of the K12 system to keep those historic records.

One option would be to use offered community groups that are tied to a school year and term, but that (in my opinion) kind of defeats the purpose of using a community group at all.

  • @Jess Moxsky thank you! You confirmed what I suspected.

  • @Jess Moxsky thank you again. I am wondering if anyone else is creating Community Groups yearly for the reporting feature? We want to avoid having to keep data on club enrollment outside of the SIS.

  • @Jennifer Welch We do all our student clubs as “Activities”. Each year we have a section of each activity and enroll students under the scheduling section. We can then do historic reporting based off of some advanced lists we created.

  • @Chris Felinski thank you. One of the desires of our Student Activity leader is to give studentsthe ability to self serve which clubs they sign up for. We are weighing the benefits of self-service vs. historic reporting which is also a requirement for our school. Thanks for the input!
