Question for the Higher Ed Peeps-Tuition Calculation

So I need some help from the Higher Ed peeps,…

Our board has questions about Tuition Methodology, they want to know how other schools calculate versus what we are doing.

Currently we take our operating budget, back out Room & Board Expenses, then divide that number by the expected Fall enrollment to come up with a Tuition Fee per student.

Do my two questions are:

  1. How does your school calculate Tuition (no numbers needed, just general info.)
  2. How often to you review and update your Tuition charge? (yearly, every two years, every five years, ect.)

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

We use tuition per credit. Each year it is evaluated based on expected enrollment (both headcount and credits) and other factors such as peer school rates, marketing efforts, etc., for a potential increase that is generally around 2-4%, although we try to keep it as low as possible.
