How are you doing half day attendance

Does anyone do half day attendance? How are you calculating that correctly? I am being told that the Full Day/Half Day you put beside an attendance code is not being used for that purpose. If a student leaves early we want to count that as a half day absence.

@Patricia Krueger We have an attendance category called Half Day. Under it, we have two reasons: Half Day Excused and Half Day Unexcused. Although it still technically calculates as a full day, our attendance monitors know it's a half day and it shows to parents as a half day.

@Patricia Krueger We set up a morning class and an afternoon class. Students who are full day are enrolled in both. This is our Early Childhood dept and we also have 2, 3, and 5 days, half or full. So its a little complicated attendance wise (sometimes children stay for full days once a week too, and half days the remaining). This year was our first using blackbaud so it was a process setting it up. But I think we will do the same for next year.
