Embedding files in media

We recently changed from RE7 to NXT. In RE7, we had our media linked to files on our hard drive. For example, scholarship files…They would be in media and linked to the file in the drive so that if anything changed in the drive, it would changed in the RE account. We were under the impression from Blackbaud that this could be done in NXT but anything that I find says that it can't be done in NXT.

My question is what does everyone do with the media tab? I've tried entering the info again but once entered, it can be accessed in webview but not database view. Is there any way that media can be accessed in both?

    @Darlene Ellis in the cloud versions of FE/ FENXT you have 2 real choices but I would only use the FENXT webview one. If you still embed files on the media tab then usually you'll want to link it to the hosted files folder. That means uploading it to the cloud folder and linking it in software there. This way it has access there, particularly if your local drives can't be seen / mapped etc. Also with Database view going away, anything on the media tab isn't always visible Webview.

    In webview, you can use the Attachment tile on vendors, invoices, etc. This will let you either navigate from your harddrive to actually upload it, or link it. I usually upload it , so there is a copy up there. Compared to the media tab which isn't on all record types in FE database view, the attachment tile is on more record types in FENXT so you can be more specific about what get's attached to specific transactions , like invoices etc.
