Automated Recurring Payments

We currently have recurring payments, but they are done in batches manually in database. Is there any reason we shouldnt have them automated?????

@Lisa Madden - Welcome to BB Community! I have found converting recurring gifts to web view to be a huge benefit to not only staff but to donors as well. By automating recurring gifts you are able to offer donors a wide range of dates and frequencies, and the system takes care of the processing for you. @Lisa Madden The only catch is that a recurring gift payment cannot easilty be applied to a pledge since a pledge payment and a recurring gift payment are different gift types in Raiser's Edge. More information is at the below knowledgebase article and community post.

We ended up keeping recurring batches in database view to process recurring pledge payments.

@Lisa Madden also make sure you fully understand how recurring gifts end up on constituent records when they are charged automatically. The automation is great, but the hands off approach can be troubling for some organizations.

It isn't necessarily a dealbreaker, but make sure the process that you'll be forced to use is one that aligns with your internal processes. You may need to make some adjustments, so talk to your finance team first!
