Report Card Possibilities: Looking For Examples

We are in the process of implementing Blackbaud and my division directors have requested that I present some examples of what our report cards can look like. This is hard to generate as there is still much of our data that needs pulled in. Does anyone have examples of report cards, formats, etc (with data scrubbed) that I could use?

  • Hi Jennifer - we are a K-8 school and use a narrative/assessment style for our report cards. I included two for Middle School because in the first quarter you can see that the student has entered some goals in the class named Habits of Learning. But in the Middle School FInal report, you only see Teacher Comments.

One area that I don't like with the report cards is the inability to keep all the ratings and comments for a class together on one page. I had that with my Crystal Reports - lost that when we transitioned to Blackbaud reports.

To get these built I had a lot of help from K-12 support - and from other Community users - @Geoffrey Goodfellow had some great report card samples that he shared.

Hi Candace, were these report cards built with a template in Blackbaud or with an external application? I would be interested in learning more about your process here.

  • @Candace Chesler

Are your MS reports a hybrid of standard and assessment or all assessment style?

  • @Candace Chesler this is the exact way I'm trying to create our report cards. We want each academic course to show the letter grade first, then rate on four assessment skills, with the comments below. How could we connect to find out how to make this happen. I see where to do it in report card setup, but I haven't figured out how to connect the skills to that section.

  • @Kristy Nkanza - Our Grades are not calculated from the Gradebook - they are entered as part of the Grade Plan. Each Grade Plan has one assessment type - and then for those grade levels that have a Grade - the first assessment skill in the Grade Plan is “Grade” - which has a different grading category than the assessment skills.
We built these in 2015. I remember discussing using the Hybrid option - which pulls the grade directly from the Gradebook - but we opted to not go that route.
So - to answer your question - we only have assessment skills showing up in the report card.

  • @Candace Chesler Thank you, that is still very helpful. We want to provide this layout for our parents even we have to enter the letter grade manually in the grade plan. Thanks so much for posting the examples, as well!
