K-12 education and tuition management

When we were learning about the blackbaud products, one of the selling points for us was that parents would only have one place to sign in to access all their school information, but apparently we misunderstood because our Tuition Management and the SIS are very completely separate.

Is that right? Are we missing something? Do we not have something things properly set up? Is there a way to connect the SIS and Tuition Management so parents only have to sign on once?

  • @Amanda Polson the Tuition Mangement system was originally Smart Tuition, and so it is a separate access for your parents, they create an account just for that purpose upon signing your enrollment contracts.

Another product managed by Blackbaud is Billing Mangement, that IS part of the k-12 education suite and does not require any other login for the parents. Very different system. You would need to onboard with them, as it is another product to sign on with…

Maybe you got wind of both and they can be confused for the same product?

  • @Amanda Polson Our enrollment contracts are integrated with Tuition Management. When parents select payment plans and pay a deposit on the contract, that information is communicated to Tuition Management. Additionally, parents can access Tuition Management with SSO through a tile on the resource board.

  • @Kate Kovacs Could be. We got dazzled by all the options :)

  • @Kelly Maddox Aha. I think I need to figure out the SSO. I suspect that would solve mutiple issues.

  • @Amanda Polson Tuition Management has also added BBID support in the past three months or so, which makes it significantly easier to sign in even if you don't use SSO from the resource board in EMS. It used to be a real pain in the neck with separate logins for each system, but to Blackbaud's credit (albeit it took a very long time to get there) they've made significant improvements in that area over the past year.

  • @Kate Kovacs For Tuition Management, schools have the ability to add an SSO tile to their resource board. Payers can go right to the board, click the tile and hop right into their Tuition account without needing a seperate login or to enter their credientials again.

For schools using Billing Management payers can go to the same place theyd go to see their students attendance, grades etc and would see a billing option from there.

In both cases there should be no additional steps to have to log in, just different spots to go to access the details.
