Can you direct me to learn how to upload gifts from an Excel document. We discovered that we have hundreds of gifts that were not entered into RENXT for 2023 and we are looking for an expedient way to correct the donor records.

@Lori Williams Usually the easiest way to do that is via import. Do you have a constituent ID or import id in your file?

@Christine Robertson For some - yes, others would be new donors. Should I enter the donors and assign an ID and have a field to populate that on my spreadsheet? Can you give me insight on the import process?

@Lori Williams If you are using RE import, I would divide the spreadsheet into two groups (those with new constituents and those with existing constituents.

For the new constituents, you will need to import the constituents first (I would assign them a unique constituent ID) and then you can import their gifts.

For the existing constituents, you can just import the gifts.

There are third party tools that can help with importing (some are free and others are not). In my experience, the third party tools can help eliminate the need for the ids and also enable to you import both the constituents and the gifts at the same time.

@Christine Robertson – thank you. I'll add that Omatic Software has an inexpensive tool that will allow a user to import new constituents and their gifts along with gifts from existing constituents (properly matched and without creating duplicate records) all at the same time.
