Calc difference between current gift and previous gift

I have a requirement to calc the difference between the most recent gift and the immediately prior gift. I am aware of the “Latest gift” Summary field. However, that is updated as soon as the account team enters a new gift. I will run this calc weeks after a new gift is entered.

Any suggestions on how to identify the difference (greater or smaller) in the most recent two gifts for each constituent? (either by the API or within a NXT Query)?

gift list filter by constituent system id, sort by gift date descending, limit 2

then you can do the compare between the latest 2 gifts amount
