Website contact form -> Raiser's Edge NXT

Hi all,

Please forgive any ignorance/incorrect terminology - I'm new to Raiser's Edge and I'm still learning.

My company is building a website for a UK charity. They've asked us to investigate whether it'd be possible to create a contact form (i.e., not a donation form or an event sign-up form) on their website and send the data it collects to their Raiser's Edge NXT instance. They want to do this for marketing and CRM purposes. I don't yet have a good understanding of NXT's data structure but so far I can't see that NXT has the concept of a “contact” (i.e., a person who is not a donor or an event attendee).

Before I spend much more time looking into this it'd be great to know if this request is conceptually possible? Does NXT support non-donor, non-attendee “contacts”. If so, is it possible to use the SKY API to create them?

Thanks very much for any info anyone is able to share with me.

Eamonn

yes you can do this using SKY API and any form you build.

RE NXT is a CRM, a constituent record does not have to be a donor (having gift) or a guest of an event. This depends a lot on what the org you work for. Do they create new constituent record for “prospect” (those that sign up may be consider a prospect that they will solicit via email). Do they use RE NXT for sending eblast? or use another platform?

If they want to use RE NXT for keeping track of all who sign up on contact form, the contact form server-side processing can call SKY API to search for existance of the email in constituent record, and if found, do nothing (or something depending on what the org may want to do), if not found, create a new constituent record with the email as primary email address.

    Hi Alex,

Thanks so much for your reply. It's great to know that my client's request is feasible - it makes it so much easier to work out how to do something if you know that it's possible in the first place!

    Much appreciated!
