Importing/globally adding funding interests?

I'm trying to update prospects' funding interests (both adding new ones and updating existing ones) but I can't see how to do that in bulk. I've looked at global changes, Brightvine Data Link, and record operations and nothing's jumped out at me - hoping I've just overlooked it, as I have thousands to add and really don't want to do them manually! Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

  • @Alan French There are multiple approaches to this in Velocity (I am from Zuri Group, btw) using ad-hoc queries or flat files as sources and the add/edit forms as targets. Your only challenges really are 1) how to ensure you avoid violating the constituent-fundraising interest unique constraint when adding or editing the interest type (a selection might be part of that plan); and 2) how to express the logic for changing the interest type or level from current values (constants in the velocity mapping are the obvious way, but only if your modifications are homogeneous). Those concerns are a bit in the weeds. You could wire up a prototype process using only BBCRM UI in 5-10 minutes.

    Hi Alan,

I sent you a follow-up email related to how to do this with the BVDL since you already have it. There a couple ways in the tool which does include using the dynamic operation functionality to call the add/edit forms conditionally. If you like, you can pull this from a query and schedule it, or you can use a file. Up to you.

I will set up some time to walk you through how to configure it.

Hi Alan. We had the Blackbaud Australia professional services team build a global change (actually 3: add/update/delete) so we can now easily manage funding interests in bulk via global changes.

We now have set up a range of criteria that will add/update funding interests based on activity (i.e. donors to particular funds, event attendance etc.) as well as being able to use the global changes run on an import selection.

Happy to provide more details, and I'm sure Blackbaud Australia could provide this as a feature pack.
