It is actually pretty simple once you get it to work. The instructions from the website are decent. Getting it to work is really the trick. Do you have it downloaded and working yet?

It says it works with Excel 2013 or better. It doesn't. It does seem to work with Excel 2021 or better. If you get an error after you install the add-in that says “This doesn't work with Internet Explorer”, you need your IT people or someone more savvy than me to make sure your computer or Excel has WebView2 installed or working.

Once you have it working, most people will have a problem with the field that auto populates with “Journal Entry”. FE will not accept the entry and you will get an error when you try to submit it if it doesn't exactly match the options listed in your Control Panel > Fields and Tables > Journal. This is case sensitive. If it says “General Ledger”, “general ledger” will not work. “GL” definitely won't work. That's how you can tell it wasn't programmed by AI, in fact very little I was involved.

Those are the biggest roadblocks most people seem to have run into. Good luck!

OR as Customer Disservice says, “Why don't you look it up yourself, here's a KB article that doesn't apply.”

I can't even get somebody in my Org. to have access to even get the plug in from Marketplace. So far that has been my biggest hurdle!!

We have a spreadsheet set up to do the upload into the database view and it works really well. Of course, because it works they're going to take it away. I was only once able to use the webview upload and then it stopped.

The person who is the Admin for FE should be able to do that. At our organization our Controller and one other person is the FE Admin. They should have Marketplace permission or at least the authority in the system to allow themselves access to the Marketplace.

    I hope that helps.

Everyone is in the same boat it seems. The same is happening to us. No one is happy about it. It won't help much, but you should contact your Customer “Success” manager and let them know. They will say, “change is always difficult”, or some other trite nonsense, but I have to believe that behind their talking points, someone does hear the gnashing of teeth amongst their customers. All they had to do is allow those DB uploads to work in Web View.

  • Omatic Software has a powerful tool for auto-importing open journal entry batches into FE NXT. If you are interested in learning more, please get in touch with us at info@omaticsoftware.com, or contact me directly at stu.manewith@omaticsoftware.com. Much appreciated.
