How does my database view data differ from Postman data?

I am using Raiser's Edge NXT. I have created a new application and completed the OAuth Authentication process. I tested everything with a simple GET constituents call in Postman and a bunch of sample data is returned.

However, when I open my database view, there is no data in there at all.

So where exactly is the data I see in Postman coming from and can I see that data in the database view?

a lot of vague and missing info from your post, so to help you, you will need to provide more info.

    • Are you a user of an org client that uses RE NXT? or you are a developer using a cohort RE NXT?
    • do you have multiple “environment” of RE NXT (test and production) that you may be connected differently for API vs opening dbview.
    • how are you opening the database view?
    • “there is no data in there at all” what do you mean by that, at the minimum there should be user record for you and Supervisor account, otherwise you can't login to dbview. Are you saying there is no constituent record at all? You ran a constituent query with no filter and got 0 result?
  • @Alex Wong I am a developer using a cohort RE NXT. I am opening the database view from within the RE NXT homepage by clicking on the stacked coin icon > open database view. That downloads the launch.ica file which I open using Citrix workspace. Within the database view, there are no records, and I do not have the ability to create a new constituent, for example

I don't know if you know enough about RE NXT security and permission and if you are given enough permission.

@Erik Leaver I will leave it to Blackbaud's staff to help answer you on what data is being used in cohort and if you have permission to view any data in database view of the cohort environment.

@Wayne Lopez There is no separate permission that could be used to restrict dbview but allow APIs, so you should be able to access dbview and webview with the permissions of the group you are in

how come I cannot make a POST? For example, when attempting to create a new constituent, I receive the error “The user does not have permission to perform this operation.” As far as I am aware, I have full permissions to write.

@Wayne Lopez Tying this up as I see that Chris Rogers answered the question: you only have read permissions as the default permissions with the Sky Developer Cohort. You can request write permissions by contacting the skyapi inbox.
