Is it possible to have a column in the gradebook that is not tied to an assignment?

For a column to display in the gradebook an assignment, assessment or discussion must be created. With that said, if the teacher has something that they want to keep for themselves and not display to students, they can create an assignment and opt to not include the assignment in the gradebook cumulative and/or not publish the assignment to students.
