"Do not call" or SMS opt out
Do most people use the “Do Not Call” option on phone numbers to specifically track opt outs of literal phone calls or do you also use it to track those that may not want to receive SMS marketing?
Trying to determine if “Do Not Call” on a phone number should refer to all contact on that number (text and phone calls) or if a separate custom field or a Consent channel is better for SMS

@Colin Rink
We currently use it for only for phone calls since we currently do not send out texts to our constituents1 -
@Colin Rink, we also use it for phone calls as we do not have a system to send texts to constituents at this time. But I can see where having this clearly defined would be helpful if you do send SMS in addition to calling.

@Colin Rink we use the Do Not Call solicited code for people who do not want phone calls and have a solicited code for Do Not Text for the ones that don't want text/SMS. We will send a SMS marketing to people who have do not call coding.

@Susan Finlay Thanks Susan - so you're using Solicit codes to track opt-outs on different channels over the ‘do not email’ or ‘do not call’ options tied to the specific contact email address or phone numbers?

@Colin Rink Are your SMS messages Opt-In, or Opt-Out? I think the consent fields are best for this, but I would probably use a solicit code as well. My org doesn't do text messages, but we generally use those checkboxes (DNC, Do Not Mail, etc.) as a method to show that all communications to that field are prohibited.

@Colin Rink yes we do. It narrows down how the individual wants to be contact. Some of our donor don't like text but are happy for us to call them. (we have an older donor base) If you mark do not call then someone could take it as do not contact at all.

@Colin Rink
We have No Phone Contact, No Phone Solicitations, No Texting Contact, and No Texting Solicitations as solicit codes to track the preferences.1 -
@Colin Rink We use the solicit codes. You can also pull these into the NXT view and use it to filter (include / exclude) on list you can create in NXT.
