Attachments

I was in database view and marked a constituent as deceased. It then let me attach the obit to it. It shows up in attachments in webview but I can't find it in database view. There are no attachments in database view. It does show in database view that he is deceased and the date of death. In our previous system, I used an obit action to pull a report of deceased alumni/friends for our bi-yearly magazine. Just trying to figure out if i need to enter this info in both views in order to pull the report or if I can pull the report by the date of death or the date that they were marked as deceased in webview. Thank you!

@Julie games Attachments made in webview don't move over to database view. This is a technical limitation. If it is an attachment that you will need to see in both places, I'd recommend attaching it in database view as those attachments are viewable in webview.

Attachments do not show up in database view, and even more importantly for our org is that if you need to restore your database from backup for any reason, attachments will not be restored.

Web attachment isn't the only thing that doesn't restore if you do a database restore.

while concerning, I think it isn't best to ignore a very useful tool on webview b/c of fear of database restore. Rather, I would continue to stand stern that BB needs to come up with a better restore that restores ALL data of an account, web or db view.

  • @Alex Wong Agreed! But it's important for people to know the pros and cons of all features when making process decisions.
