Previous assignment search

When a World Language faculty member wants to search for an assignment (e.g., to import something from a previous year, the search completely fails if the word in question has a vowel with an accent, of which Spanish and French have a lot, or a letter not found in English like ñ or ç.

They have also tried searching for only the part of the word without the accent and that gives no results.

Is there anyone else who has this issue?
