New Grade Entry Screen Enhancement - Adding Bulk Comments to Multiple Sections

I was playing around with the enhancement released yesterday that enables faculty to enter bulk comments across multiple sections of a course. I ran into an issue in that students are now listed multiple times per section, some twice and some three times, with some of the listings having a comment present icon. However, when I look at our upcoming grade entry for 3rd quarter, all of comment fields have the Add button, so nothing is there.

I have opened a case with Support but wanted to know if anyone else was experiencing this. It will cause mayhem when teachers need to enter comments.

Thank you for already reporting this through a Support case. That is the quickest way to ensure the issue is directed to the appropriate team to address.

With that said, I can note that this is something we are looking into on our end now. We'll have an update provided via the case once the issue has been resolved.

@Scott Chrysler & @Michael Morrissette - I saw the same problem, and a couple of other things. I also submitted a case (019993464).

In the Bulk Add dialog, the students are listed in a random order and the names are not displayed using the specified name format (Core > Users > User profile settings > User name format).

Hey Folks -

Quick update on this. Yesterday, we reverted to the previous bulk comment experience and will be redeploying the ability to add a bulk comment across sections in next week's release.

The duplication we were seeing only occurred given multiple comment grade plan grades were found in multiple grade plans within a single term. For example, if you had something like Quarter 2 Progress and Quarter 2 as different grade plans both nested under a Semester 1 term, you would see a separate row for each student for each comment grade plan grade. We will be filtering down to the given grade plan grade, which will prevent the duplication we were seeing.

The actual formatting for student names will now be pointed to the correct User Name Format setting, so we should see the list of students in the grid or narrative view mimicking what is being displayed in the bulk edit modal.
