Another BIG Issue with RE NXT - Cannot edit Gift Notes

Just another in a long line of issues with RE NXT. In database View, you can add or edit notes in Database View, BUT in RE NXT, you cannot add or edit any gift notes (which is IMPORTANT). Another SNAFU with RE NXT and yet Blackbaud want to eventually get rid of Database, are you kidding me. You have a system that does not work like Database View does. Not wonder so many database people are complaining about RE NXT and this who move things from Database to RE NXT.

Count me as a database person who HATES RE NXT, from a database perspective. I do not even like the look of it (I know it was designed in a way to make it user friendly for fundraisers, but we database people are the ones who use it ALL THE TIME. I want to be able to run reports, etc. without having to use or purchase some third party app or purchase something from Blackbaud that was once free and now you have to pay for like the Constituent Profile Report. FIX the things in RE NXT or even database that do not work well. I mean Blackbaud is super expensive and I do not want to spend more money on another app or have to learn something like Power BI or anything else. I want the product to work properly!!!!!

We get it. You hate everything about NXT. Have you logged this particular grievance in the idea bank, or voted on existing ideas? Believe me - I agree that we should not have to ask for existing functionality to be replicated in webview - but I try to follow the procedure requested by Blackbaud. While the idea bank has it's own issues, it does provide a way to centralize the need and use cases around a particular topic and feels a little more effective than shouting into the universe. I've done plenty of that myself.

@Karen Diener I have logged plenty of the issues in the dark hole known as the "idea bank", which as you have mentioned has it's own issues. But as I have said plenty to times before, Blackbaud is super expensive (we are around the $60K mark) and for that amount of money, it should work 100% properly. But instead Blackbaud has gobbled up so many other companies to get these other products that are not always in synch with RE and then the third party vampires swoop in to take more money from non-profits or Blackbaud itself decides to charge for something that was originally free before.

The comments field of a gift record needs to be editable in NXT

I know the idea bank can be frustrating, but I've also found this issue to be irritating (just today, I opened database view just to make a small change to a comment on a specific gift) and want the Blackbaud designers to know.

Feel free to vote on it if you feel so inclined. And anyone else reading this, too.

I don't love the navigation of the idea bank, though I could definitely spend hours there voting up ideas and adding reasons why specific fields and functions need to exist.

@Joe Moretti Why do we have to add an idea when it is STANDARD in database view. That is absolutely nuts and infuriating. That is the response I get when I say “hey, this is standard in db view, when will it be in web view?" I get “add to the idea bank.” Idea bank is like notes…a place where data goes to die.

@Joe Moretti I believe that this is planned. In the product briefing update in May it shows as planned (should occur within the next 6 months), as well as showing as planned in the idea bank.
