Development Update: Search Improvements and Admin Tools


In April, we held our online Blackbaud Grantmaking Product Update Briefing (link to recording is here) in which we talked about the plan for delivering all the capabilities of Blackbaud Grantmaking in the new SKY view, as well as our ongoing plan to iterate on and improve each of those capabilities.


Based on your feedback, we broke down each capability by the different roles that use Blackbaud Grantmaking the most, with functionality for program officers already available, and functionality for grants managers and admins nearly complete.

Today we are sharing an update on all the changes we’ve delivered in April and May. You can find these changes now in your Blackbaud Grantmaking SKY view site. These changes now mean that most admin users can perform all of their administrative tasks in SKY view today. Meanwhile we continue to

Recent changes in Blackbaud Grantmaking SKY view:

  • Workspace (search, records, and actions)
  1. Search results: Long text will now wrap to a new line when resizing columns

  1. Search results: Different columns now have different default widths, to make better use of the available space on the page.

  1. Search results: You can now rename column headings in saved views. To try it, perform a search in the Workspace, click “Manage saved views”, open the context menu for a view, click “Edit columns”, and click the pencil icon next to its heading.

  • Applications

Forms manager: You can now find all your application and requirement forms, and create new forms, from Blackbaud Grantmaking SKY view. If your organization uses the Online Applications feature, you can click “Applications” in the top navigation, and then “Forms manager” to get started.

  • Financials

Budget: You can now manage your grants budget within Blackbaud Grantmaking SKY view. If your organization uses the Budget feature, you can click “Financials” in the top navigation, and then “Budget” to open the budget manager.

  • Reviews

Review stage setup, manage committees, and review rules: All tools for managing your review process are now available in SKY view. If your organization uses the Reviews feature, you can click “Reviews” in the top navigation to manage review stages, reviewer committees, and review rules.

  • Control panel

  1. Settings: Document template manager: You can now download your document templates directly from SKY view, edit them on your computer, and re-upload them in SKY view, all without downloading and installing a Document Template Manager application. If you open the Help while viewing the Document Template Manager, you’ll find a great introduction to how it works in SKY view.
  2. ​​​​​​​Settings: Blueprint: You can now create custom fields, manage all of your fields, and design forms for each record type from the Blueprint menus in SKY view.
  3. Classifications: You can now manage all your classifications (also known as coding fields) as an administrator in SKY view, including adding new fields, and editing the options available for each field. Next time you need to add a program area or fund code, we recommend giving it a try in SKY view!

We are currently in the process of developing the remaining administrative features and optional modules from Blackbaud Grantmaking Classic view, to bring them to every browser and every device through SKY view. We’re also continuously improving your experience–including more changes coming soon to records and searching–based on your feedback.
