Admissions Checklist Tags

Hello Everyone! We have been using enrollment management for quite some time now and we were excited to see the overhaul to admissions checklists. I wanted to reach out on here to see how people are handling tagging with milestones in the system.

Currently, we have two checklists set up: one that includes inquiry and one that does not. We find that some people want to submit an inquiry and some that don't. We want those that submit an inquiry to have that Milestone status on their account so we can track how many people stop after the initial inquiry. We also want to be able to track how many users skip the inquiry and go straight to the application.

My question is has anyone found a way to have someone skip a milestone status like inquiry at the beginning if they go straight into the application? I would love to be able to use the auto assign feature for checklists and admission staff, but I cannot make this work if a decision has to be made about what checklist to assign based on if it came in as inquiry or application.

Would it be possible for you to use one checklist but then manually "waive" the inquiry step in applicants that choose to go on directly to the application without completing the inquiry?
