Custom Insight for Dashboard - New Donor question

I am trying to build a custom insight to add to my dashboard to capture new donors this fiscal year. Is this possible? Can you share any tips or tricks for the best way to easily gather this data? Thanks!

I am not aware of doing this in insight, but you can easily do this in Query.
